Hundreds of thousands of National Health Service (NHS) nurses held a second day of strikes Tuesday across England. Monday’s joint action by nurses and ambulance workers was the largest strike in the NHS since its foundation 75 year ago.
On picket lines workers told the WSWS about their demands for higher pay and more staff to be employed in the NHS. Many workers expressed the view that pay, conditions, and the right to public health care had to be defended in a unified struggle against Rishi Sunak’s Conservative government.
